Surgical removal of fractured ATRIASEPT occluder 5 months after successful percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect.

چکیده
A 10-year-old girl with symptoms of atypical infection and diagnosed disintegration of the occluder (Fig. 1) was referred for surgery. Intra-operatively the device was incorporated with atrial septum, but its surface was not completely endothelialized. All parts were removed (Fig. 2). The defect was closed with pericardial patch. www.elsevier.com/locate/ejcts European Journal of Cardio-thoracic Surgery 40 (2011) 1543

Urgent Surgical Intervention for Embolized Cardiac Occluder Devices: A Case Series
Introduction: In this study, we sought to illustrate our experience in urgent surgical management for embolized cardiac septal occlude devices resulting from trans-catheter closure of atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect. Mathrials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed four patients aged 2–10 years who underwent urgent surgery due to cardiac septal occluder embolization between...
متن کاملPerforation of the aortic sinus after closure of atrial septal defects with the Atriasept occluder.
Percutaneous atrial septal defect closure is routinely performed nowadays because of the ease of implantation as well as the low complication rate. The Atriasept ASD occluder is a low profile, double disc device; over the years several modifications have been made. We report two cases of aortic sinus perforation by the Atriasept ASD occluder (model 2007). Two asymptomatic patients, in whom the ...
متن کاملSuccessful Percutaneous Retrieval of Embolized Septal Occluder Device from Aortic Arch and Placement of a Newer Septal Occluder Device in Combined Procedure
Embolization of the Amplatzer Septal Occluder (ASO) device (St. Jude Medical, Minnesota) after percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect (ASD) is a rare and potentially catastrophic complication. Percutaneous retrieval of the embolized device is gaining ground as an acceptable method, although these patients are usually subsequently referred for open surgical closure of the ASD. We present a...
متن کاملLate Migration of Amplatzer Septal Occluder Device to the Descending Thoracic Aorta
Percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect (ASD) has become an increasingly common procedure. Serious complications of the procedure, such as cardiac migration, are rare, and usually occur <72 hours after device placement. In this report, we present the case of a patient who underwent successful surgical treatment for the migration of an ASD occluder device to the thoracic aorta 12 months aft...
متن کاملLong-term outcome of transcatheter secundum-type atrial septal defect closure using Amplatzer septal occluders.
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to assess long-term results of percutaneous closure of secundum-type atrial septal defect (ASD II) using Amplatzer septal occluders (ASO). BACKGROUND Only immediate-, short-, and intermediate-term results of ASO implantation are known so far. METHODS Between September 1995 and January 2000, 151 patients underwent a successful percutaneous closure of ASD ...
